Lambeth | Locum | £45.20 per hour | Hybrid Working
Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager to join their Family Support & Child Protection Service. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing a team of social workers and ensuring high-quality safeguarding practice that delivers positive outcomes for children and families.
You will lead the day-to-day operational management of the team, ensuring services are delivered in line with statutory requirements, council policies, and best practice, while driving performance and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and manage a team of Social Workers and Personal Advisors
- Oversee caseload allocation, ensuring workloads are prioritised and manageable
- Provide high-quality supervision, performance management, and staff development
- Ensure all casework is progressed in the best interests of the child
- Chair key meetings including strategy discussions, reviews, and planning meetings
- Monitor performance, quality of practice, and ensure compliance with statutory frameworks
- Manage team budgets and resources effectively to deliver value for money
- Work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners including health, police, and education
- Lead on service development, driving improvements and implementing new initiatives
- Undertake case audits and contribute to quality assurance processes
What You’ll Need:
- Social Work England Registration
- Social Work Qualification
- Significant post-qualified experience within children’s social care
- Previous experience managing or supervising within a children’s service
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Child Protection, and statutory frameworks
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive service improvement
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
