About the Role:
We are looking for a committed and experienced Team Manager to lead our Child Protection Team within Croydon’s local authority. As a Team Manager, you will play a critical role in safeguarding children and young people, managing a team of social workers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, effective child protection services. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of social workers within the Child Protection Team, providing direction, support, and supervision to ensure best practice.

  • Oversee and allocate cases, ensuring they are managed with thorough assessments, timely interventions, and in line with statutory guidelines.

  • Work collaboratively with multiple agencies to develop and implement safeguarding and protection plans tailored to each child’s unique needs.

  • Ensure all team activities comply with local and national child protection standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, providing coaching and guidance to promote the professional development of team members.

  • Support the team in handling complex cases, making critical decisions, and managing risk in safeguarding situations.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with current registration with Social Work England.

  • Demonstrated experience managing or supervising a team in children’s services, particularly within a child protection context.

  • Thorough knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection protocols, and best practice.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to work effectively with diverse partners and manage a high-performing team.

  • Ability to make sound, timely decisions under pressure and handle complex cases with high standards of professional practice.
