A Local Authority in South London is looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker Team Manager to lead it's Fostering Team in children's services. About the Role:

As the Team Manager for the Fostering Team, you will be responsible for leading a committed team of social workers who assess, support, and supervise foster carers. You will ensure that high-quality placements are provided for children and young people, helping them thrive in safe and nurturing environments. Your leadership will be essential in overseeing the recruitment and training of foster carers and ensuring compliance with fostering regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Fostering Team, providing supervision, guidance, and support to social workers and fostering staff.
  • Oversee the assessment, approval, and review processes for foster carers to ensure high-quality placements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, fostering regulations, and best practice standards.
  • Work collaboratively with children’s services, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people in foster care.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that foster carers receive ongoing training and development.

Requirements:

  • Qualified social worker with extensive experience in children's services, particularly in fostering or looked after children.
  • Social Work England registered.
  • Proven track record of leadership and team management.
  • Strong understanding of fostering regulations, child protection, and safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while managing complex cases.
