Team Manager – Looked After Children at Medway

Medway Council is looking for an experienced Team Manager to lead their Looked After Children (LAC) Team. If you're passionate about supporting children in care and want to work in a service that prioritises relationship-based practice, this could be the role for you.
The Role:
As Team Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of Social Workers, ensuring children in care receive the best possible support. Your role will include:
- Overseeing care planning, permanency, and pathway plans, making sure each child’s journey is tailored to their individual needs.
- Implementing Medway’s systemic social work model, ensuring that practice is restorative, strengths-based, and child-focused.
- Providing reflective supervision and professional development opportunities to Social Workers to help them grow in their roles.
- Quality-assuring casework, ensuring all plans and interventions meet statutory requirements and best practice standards.
- Working closely with partner agencies, foster carers, and birth families to promote positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Managing budgets and resources effectively, ensuring the team operates efficiently and sustainably.
What You Need:
- A Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
- Previous experience managing or supervising social workers in children’s services, ideally within a Looked After Children team.
- A strong understanding of care planning regulations, fostering, and adoption processes.
- A commitment to high-quality social work practice and supporting Social Workers to develop.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as travel across Medway will be required.
