Role Overview
As the Team Manager, you will be responsible for the management and leadership of the Children in Care Team. You will ensure the team delivers high-quality social work practice that supports and safeguards children in care, providing them with the stability and support they need to thrive. You will oversee casework, supervise social workers, and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and supervise a team of social workers, ensuring the delivery of excellent care planning and support for children in care.
- Oversee the development and implementation of care plans that address the individual needs of children and promote positive outcomes.
- Ensure the team’s compliance with statutory requirements, policies, and best practice standards in all areas of children’s social care.
- Monitor team performance and implement strategies for continuous improvement, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
- Support the professional development of team members through regular supervision, coaching, and training.
- Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to the care and support of children.
- Manage resources effectively to ensure efficient service delivery within the allocated budget.
- Represent the team at multi-agency meetings, case conferences, and court proceedings, ensuring the best interests of children are prioritised.
Requirements
- Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and Social Work England registration.
- Substantial post-qualification experience in children’s social care, particularly within a Children in Care or Looked After Children team.
- Proven experience of managing or supervising social workers in a children’s services setting.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to children in care.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage complex cases, and support the team in delivering outstanding services.
