About the Role
Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager to oversee both our Fostering Team and the Connected Persons Team. This unique role will include direct management of a large number of Independent Social Workers (ISWs) commissioned to carry out connected persons assessments, providing essential support and ensuring high-quality standards in fostering and connected persons placements.

This role will require close collaboration with various departments, including Legal and the Panel Advisor, to ensure efficient assessment processes and adherence to regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Legal Department to manage regulatory requirements and foster placements.

  • Oversee the allocation, midpoint, and final review processes for ISWs conducting connected persons assessments.

  • Maintain oversight of checks and references for each case to ensure compliance and high standards.

  • Work closely with the Panel Advisor to schedule assessments with the Foster Care Panel.

  • Monitor and manage Regulation 24 assessments, ensuring placements remain regulated and that any applications for Regulation 25 extensions are processed promptly.

About You

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in social work management, particularly in fostering and connected persons assessments. Key skills and experience include:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.

  • Experience: Significant experience in fostering, connected persons assessments, and team management, ideally with experience handling independent social workers.

  • Skills: Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; solid understanding of Regulation 24 and 25 requirements and fostering panel processes.

  • Teamwork: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in liaising with legal departments and other professionals.
